"Post Covid it is advisable to find out what restaurants are open, their trading times and to make bookings beforehand if you are not self-catering as, even though it was a long weekend, we found it hard to find open restaurants in town under the present circumstances. This was not always the case pre-Covid, so one can only imagine it's due to economic stress and pressure. However it still remains one of the most beautiful little towns in the Cape! I'd imagine this would be the case for a lot of small towns in SA at the moment and can only hope that the hospitality industry recovers."
"Besoek Vanrhynsdorp omtrent jaarliks. Die mooi dorp in sy pragtige omgewing het ongelukkig die afgelope paar jaar agteruit gegaan. Dit is veral die strate (uitgesonderd die deurpad na Calvinia) wat tot 'n haglike toestand verval het. Dit is 'n gegoede gemeenskap en mens kan net hoop dat die plaaslike owerheid die dorp sal regruk!"

"Buite seisoen is dit fantasties, met lang strande en plaaslike vissers wat die atmosfeer skep. Die hoofstrand is egte vol rommel en selfs verrottende robbe wat nie weggeneem is nie. Die ewigdurende nabyheid en realiteit van diewe is ook steurend."
